Though no particular memory stands out, he was a regular presence in my life throughout that time. He was gentle, kind, and intelligent and showed interest and concern for everyone around him. I've known Jerry since 1979, when he was one of my managers at the Maryland Department of Human Resources, my first job out of graduate school. I got to know him and Janet in a different context when I moved to Woodlawn and then Catonsville in 2009, where my Mother also lived at Charlestown.
