Gladys Newsome Obituary
Gladys "Ila" Stinnett Newsome, born December 8, 1922 in Chidester, Arkansas to Cora and Logan Stinnett, passed away December 1, 2011 at the age of 89. She has resided in Pasadena, Texas since 1944. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena and a member of Eastern Star #1095. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, Hazel Bunyard, one son, Bruce Newsome, and her husband of 56 years, Jim Alvin (Pete) Newsome of Marquez, Texas. She is survived by son, Meryle Newsome and wife Sharon, daughter Debbie Lee Parmley and husband Randy Parmley, seven grandchildren, Rachel Lee Broderick and husband Greg, Ryan Lee, Emily Newsome, Katie Newsome, Shaun Barnett, Roy Parmley and Chance Parmley. Visitation will be Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 5PM to 8PM at Grand View Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 12PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery 6900 Lawndale Avenue in Houston, Texas. Ila was a lovely lady inside and out, always displaying a cheerful and sweet spirit. She was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. Lots of memories about Mrs. Newsome...a crocheted Christmas ornament I still hang on my tree, trips to Cloth World, your mom on the sofa waiting up for Mr. Newsome working the late shift, a big summer garden, and oh yeah yummy fried squash! She was a great cook and a very devoted wife and mom to the three Newsome kids. She was made of the stock that made this country great. I know you will miss her!
