Gloria HOSKINS Obituary
August 10, 1955 – October 11, 2025
Gloria Jayne Hoskins, 70, of Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully at Deaconess Hospital on October 11, 2025, after a valiant two-year battle with lymphoma.
Gloria was born on August 10, 1955, in Spokane to Warren and Beth Guy. She grew up in Spokane Valley and graduated from Central Valley High School in 1973. She went on to earn a degree in Finance from Eastern Washington University in 1977 and later attended Pacific Coast Banking School in 1995.
Gloria had a long and fulfilling career in the banking industry, working in both Washington and California. After working for several banks in Spokane, she joined the California Department of Financial Institutions in 1984, eventually becoming a Senior Examiner. In 1996, she was recruited by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, where she served as a Central Point of Contact. Gloria retired in 2017 after a highly respected and successful career.
In the early 1980s, Gloria moved to Southern California, where she enjoyed an active social life with her "California family," including involvement with the Elks, a bowling league, and many family gatherings. Gloria had gained a very close and loyal circle of friends while working in California. They remained in contact and enjoyed each other's company for more than 40 years. Gloria returned to Spokane in 2008 to be closer to her family. During the pandemic, she discovered a new passion for cooking. She would often deliver meals to her sister, Carol, so she wouldn't have to cook.
Her "California family" had relocated to Arizona and encouraged Gloria to purchase a winter residence near them to escape the Spokane winters and be closer to them. She found Gilbert, Arizona, to be the perfect paradise. She cherished her time there and embraced the community.
Giving back was always important to Gloria. She generously supported her churches and volunteered with numerous organizations, including Family Promise, Tom's Turkey Drive, Great Harvest Food Pantry, and various church events. She especially enjoyed the children at Vacation Bible School. In Arizona, she was also active with the Islands Women's Club and Feed My Starving Children.
Gloria is survived by her loving sister, Carol Mack (Keith); nephews, KC Mack (Lindsay) and Cory Mack (Kacee); great-niece, Lily Kay; and great-nephew, Bo Michael. She is also survived by her niece, Hunter Ashton; nephews, Jesse Guy and Sawyer Guy; as well as many cousins and close friends she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ronald Guy. Gloria will be laid to rest at the Pines Mausoleum in Spokane Valley.
