Harold Wilson "Hoot" Gipson, 89, of 164 Abernathy Road, Inman, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Harold was born in Warrior, Alabama on June 20, 1936, a son of the late Lilly Thomas Hearn Gipson and Carl Wilson Gipson. He was the husband of Paula Marilyn Dimsdale Gipson.
He worked as a meat cutter in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida for 58 years, starting at Tillman's Grocery in Shelby when he was seventeen years old. He was a member of Green Point Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons; Harold "Butch" Gipson Jr (Jan), Jeff Wilson Turney, Christopher Dane Turney (Lynn), a daughter, Michelle Graham (Brent), and child raised in the home, Gabriel Todd Smith; and a sister, Sylvia Gipson Gibson; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a son, Jerry Dale Gipson, a daughter, Sheila Tonnette Gipson, and a brother, Charles R. Gipson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 3rd, 2025 at Greenpoint Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. David Lancaster. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg.
