Not sure what to say?

Mr. Savage taught me history for two years at MJH during the late 1950's. He was both demanding and inspiring. More than any other teacher, he influenced the direction of my professional life and the standards by which I've tried to lead it. I find myself today trying to pass those lessons on to my young colleagues.

I'm sure his family misses him terribly and they have my sympathy. But his influence lives on.

Mr. Savage came to Park Ridge HS in 1951.He taught history and was a fine teacher. He made an impression on me and that was almost 60 years ago. Rest in Peace Mr. Savage.

A classmate from Park Ridge School contacted me about this. Mr. Savage-- even at age 72 can't call him Harry-- taught us in the 7th grade. This was about 1952 or '51, I think. He was an avid runner even then. I seem to recall that he would train during lunch hours at school.

Great teacher. I'm sure he had something to do with my great love of history to this day. My best wishes to his family. Your dad and grandfather was one of the really good teachers in my life.

Mr. Savage made an indelible mark on my life. In the late '60s I was his student at MJHS. He taught me that teachers are people, too. And that I had better keep my shirt-tails tucked in! Best to his family.

you had an inner strength few will ever possess. i can only hope my future children will have a role model to show them the courage, love, and wisdom you have shown me all these years. you will be loved and dearly missed all the days of my life. i love you grandpa.

Grandpa Harry, as I remember him, was a man of little words, but when he spoke you listened very carefully. I will miss you dearly Grandpa, but I know you're in a better place and that makes the pain hurt a little less.

Out of all my school years and all my teachers, Mr. Savage stands out in my memories as a favorite. Someone who made learning fun. My sympathies to his family. He was a greay teacher.

Mr. Savage was my U.S. History I teacher in MJH in the early 1970's. An excellent and fair teacher, proud of his hometown's sports teams, and a wry sense of humor. The school system desperately needs more like him. My most sincere condolences to his family.
