HARVEY L. RASH, SR., MARCH 15, 1919 - NOVEMBER 15, 2014 Southport /Oak Island Harvey L. Rash, Sr. went home to be with Annie Aileen Rash, his wife and Angel, Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at the age of 95 years, 8 months. Harvey was born in West Virginia on March 15, 1919. He grew up during the depression and served with the 82nd Airborne (Fort Bragg). His unit parachuted into Normandy the night before the D-Day landing. He helped provide for his family, during his teenage years. After he served his tour of duty, Harvey moved to Raleigh, and found a career with Peden Steel company in Raleigh, NC and retired after 30 years of service with the company. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, and eating at Captain Stanley's restaurant in Raleigh, NC. Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Aileen Rash of fifty-one years. He is survived by his son, Harvey L. Rash, Jr. and his wife, Iris of Southport, NC; step-grandchildren, Donna Shavitz and husband Jay of Little River, SC, and Darin Strickland and wife, Kimberly of Southport, NC. He has one living sister, Helen Lunsford, of Lewisville, NC and several nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 20th at 2pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Brown-Wynne. Burial will be at Montlawn Memorial Park.

To Harvey, Jr.: Harvey, I saw the obit for your Dad in the N&O today. I remember you from high school at Broughton as a very nice person. I am sorry for the loss of your Dad, and thank the family for his service.. Best wishes, Bill Ingle, Broughton, '66..
