Hazel Marie Abercrombie Templeton, 85, resident of Ashley Place, former resident of East Epworth Camp Road, wife of Rev. David T. Templeton, died Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Ashley Place. Born in Greenville County, March 3, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Grover Clyde and Cora Taylor Abercrombie. Being a devoted Methodist minister's wife, she was a member of the South Carolina United Methodist Conference and was a member of all churches they served during 55 years in the ministry. She taught pre-school and children's Sunday School in most all the churches they served. Hazel was very devoted to her entire family and delighted in spoiling all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also received pleasure working in her flower gardens. Surviving in addition to her husband of 66 years are her daughters, Gail (Ronnie) Hitchcock of Abbeville, Jane Calhoun of Greenwood and Lynn (Buddy) Rush of Hodges; a son, Scott (Kathy) Templeton of Pelion; a sister, Judy (Charles) Taylor of Fountain Inn; a brother, Jim (Peggy Jo) Abercrombie of Pelzer; a daughter-in-law, Holly Templeton of Greer; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, John Templeton. The family expresses their grateful appreciation to the Ashley Place Staff, Hospice Care of South Carolina, and Mrs. Pauline Lomax for their extended special care to Mrs. Templeton, her husband and the entire Templeton family. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Hendricks and Rev. Brett Collins officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park. The family is at the home of Jane Calhoun, 208 Kenilworth Drive, and will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the chapel service.
