It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Helen Critharis, surrounded by her loving family on October 31st, 2014 in the QEII , Halifax Infirmary site.

Helen and her late husband Steve were the proud owners of the Candy Bowl on Quinpool Road for more than 30 years. Helen was a long-standing member of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church.

Helen will be fondly missed and remembered for her kindness and quick-witted personality to everyone who knew her. Family gatherings will not be the same without her warm hospitality and savoured home cooking.

She is survived by sister Constance Hall, brother Chris Sperdakes, sister in-laws Hope Sperdakes, Toula Sperdakes, and Thelma Cook, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews.

Helen is predeceased by her husband Steve, by her mother and father John & Pota Sperdakes, brothers George, Peter, Bill, Orestus "Rusty", and Panagiotis, her sister Lillian (Zafiris), brothers in-law John Hall and Bill Zafiris, sisters in-law Topsy Sperdakes and Marian Spedakes, her nephew John Sperdakes and her great nephew Peter Sperdakes.

Her family would like to express our special thanks to the doctors, nurses and supporting staff of the QEII emergency. Visitation will take place Monday, Nov 3rd from 3-5pm at Cruikshank's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax. Funeral service will be held at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church,38 Purcell's Cove Road, at 11 am on Tuesday November 4th. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery following the service, and reception to follow at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church.
