Hilda Maughan Obituary
Hilda was born in Lubbock, TX on Nov. 30, 1952 to Baudelio and Oralia H. Fernandez of San Angelo, TX. She was a proud Texan and Tejana.
She enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation. She was very patriotic and proud to have served in the Army Security Agency. She was stationed overseas and loved to talk about her time in Thailand and Germany. Hilda was a faithful member of the LDS church and was married in the Switzerland LDS Temple to (late) Kelly G. Maughan from 1978 - 2002. After raising four children and being diagnosed with breast cancer, Hilda pursued and earned her Bachelor's degree in education at San Angelo State University.
Family was absolutely everything to Hilda. If one of her family was in need, she would move mountains to provide what she could of herself. She found humor in everything and always tried to make the best of any situation. Her philosophy was that if something went wrong, now it is an adventure! She was adamant about voicing her opinion or advice but would leave it for you to take or not. She showed her love with hugs, food, gifts, and time. She was musical, artistic, crafty, patient, warm, encouraging, superstitious, religious, tenacious, germaphobic, silly, persistent, generous and full of LIFE. She was a loyal friend, a loving grandmother and the world's best mom.
Hilda is survived by her children Caleb(Cassie), Wellsville, UT; Gideon (Tabitha), Klamath Falls, OR; Josiah, Ferron, UT; Oralia (Nathan Folkner), San Jose, CA. She had 13 grandchildren Natania, Damian, Kelly, Haylie, Bryce, Grayson, Destry, River, Seth, Charlie, Amelia, Avery and Charles. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents Baudelio and Oralia Fernandez; her brother, Fred; and her son, Jacob.
A viewing for Hilda will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Johnson Funeral Home 435 W Beauregard Ave. San Angelo, TX 76903, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00pm.
Hilda will be laid to rest in Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, 4989 FM 1223 San Angelo, TX 76905
