Sanders Funeral Service - Kingfisher Obituary

Hulda Anna Cross was born on December 22, 1924, in Omega, Oklahoma, on a Kingfisher country farm. Her father was Ivan Milton Cross. Her mother was Della McAdams Cross. Her sister Viola was three and a half years older. Her sister Ida May was eight and a half years younger. Hulda Anna, her mother, and sister Viola milked calves twice a day, the old-fashioned way. Hulda Anna was born organized and liked to keep a clean and neat environment. So, she became the housekeeper early.

Hulda Anna married Loyd C. Brooks on May 2, 1942. Loyd joined the navy, so Hulda Anna went to California and lived there for three years. She returned to Oklahoma, then Loyd and Hulda Anna welcomed two daughters into their family. Janis was born in 1945, and Elodee was born in 1947. The family actively participated in school and church activities in the Omega community. Farming was both an occupation and lifestyle.

In 1964, Hulda Anna helped her husband and daughters transition from rural to urban life. The family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, learned new skills, received further education, and adjusted to city life. Hulda Anna and Loyd found a new church family in the Independent Christian Churches. She immensely enjoyed her family and became a grandmother in 1967. She loved and positively influenced all six of her grandchildren. Her great-grandchildren added more enrichment to her life.

She is survived in death by daughter Janis and Elodee, her favorite son-in-law Jack Ramer, her beloved sister Ida May Kemper, cherished and special nieces and nephews, six grandchildren, and their spouses. She has twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, many uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, and two great-granddaughters – Tasha Stalling and Shelby Ramer, who were infants, and her dear husband of 59 years passed in December of 2001. Her mother, Della Cross, passed in February 2002.

Hulda Anna was devoted to her Christian faith and influenced three generations to actively participate in prayer, bible reading, and witnesses for Jesus. We find comfort knowing that she and all her loved ones that are "gone from our site" are rejoicing in heaven today.

Funeral Service will be held at Sanders Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 10:00am with interment to follow at Kingfisher Cemetery.
