I started to see Dr. Downing when I was 15 years old. I was in high school and very very ill. He saved my kidney and bailed me out so many times with his kind, concerned advise and his skill as a doctor and surgeon. He always had this great smile that let me know I was in good hands. Dr. Downing went through many crisis with me including my pregnancy. A funny story -- I was in Nashville TN and was thinking of going to a forbidden brunch. I am so very saddened to hear of Dr. Downing's passing. I was one of his patients from the time I was about 3 to the age of 25. When I was 24 he performed an amazing surgery that helped to save my kidney. That was 21 years ago. He changed my life and I am eternally grateful to him. Just wanted you to know what a difference he made in my life. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time.
