Janet Cheung, 53, of Houston Texas passed away peacefully on August 23, 2017 at the Houston Methodist Hospital, Medical Center. Born on August 25, 1964, she spent half of her life in Hong Kong before moving to the United States in 1991.

She graduated from the Asia International Open University, Hong Kong in 1994 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and in 1997 she earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of St. Thomas, Houston. She also received certification from the Arizona State University in supply chain management and a few other short programs from accredited universities. Janet spent most of her career with Amoco and later with BP in various leadership roles covering upstream, midstream, downstream, global fuels technology, wells procurement and supply chain management and most recently global subsea BOP reliability before she retired in mid-2016. She was an active member of the Houston First Baptist Church.

Janet was a devoted Christian, intelligent, confident, loving, thoughtful and always putting others before herself. Her natural outgoing personality allowed her to gain valuable life experience even as a young girl, while her inquisitive attitude fueled her passion to explore the world. She enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and sampling all kinds of cuisine. Sadly, her tremendous enthusiasm to serve God in retirement came to a halt by a rare blood disease.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Samco Wong; elder sister, Christina Cheung; brother-in-law, Po Ming Lau; brother-in-law, Bob Clifford; nephew, Oliver Clifford-Marsh, wife Pia Clifford-Marsh and their lovely daughter Fox Mei Clifford-Marsh; nephew, William Clifford, wife Romina Bertossi and their lovely daughters Sofia Mei Clifford and Emma Lin Clifford. She was preceded in death by her eldest sister, Sylvia Clifford, and parents, Chuen Cheung and So Wai Pang.

Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Houston's First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024, Funeral services will follow in the Chapel at Houston's First Baptist Church at 11:30 am, with a reception to follow at the church. Interment will follow on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Abbey View Memorial Park in Brier, WA.

Samco, I was very sorry to learn about Janet's passing! Even though l never met her, l know she was the love of your life just by the way you would talk about her. I could see it by the love in your eyes, by the tone of your voice, and by your caring words.
She is now with the Lord and has joined the communion of saints in heaven. She will be with you in spirit and will be watching over you and praying for you until you join her there.
May the Lord Bless you and comfort you.

Dear Samco and Family... The shock of Janet's death still lingers. A life, brought home too soon to be with the Lord. Janet was my right hand Manager for over 6 years at BP through many a challenge and there was one constant throughout this period, never wavering. This was the selfless way that Janet approached everything and everyone. She was the purest example of 'we before me, I can ever remember'. She was a believer in doing what is right, always. Janet was always positive and caring; she and Samco had a special bond that many can only ever dream of experiencing. These great memories will never fade and her light will be forever bright.

Dear Samco and family. May the memories you have of Janet provide comfort and peace in the coming days, weeks and months. I worked with Janet at BP. She taught me so much. Regardless of what was going on around her, she always had a smile on her face. The memorial service was a beautiful tribute to a beautiful person.

I am full of sorrow for the passing of Janet. Samco - know that love is stronger than death even though it can't stop death from happening. No matter how hard death tries it can't separate you from your shared love. It can't take away your memories. In the end, love is stronger than death. Cherish the love you shared and watch for her spirit.

We are so incredibly sad. Janet was a precious friend who will be missed tremendously. A beautiful gentle soul, inside and out. I will always think of her sweet smile and giggle. As Christians, our calling is to make sure people see Jesus through us, that we please Him above all others, and never take our blessings for granted. Janet lived her life exactly that way. It's no wonder God called her home to be near Him early; we all loved being around her. It was easy to see Jesus' love through Janet. She enjoyed life, counted her blessings, was a blessing to others, loved much, laughed often, gave generously, spoke softly, acted honorably, and was a pillar of God's greatest work on Earth. It's a humbling honor to call her our friend. We miss her and grieve with you, Samco.

Janet was an always cheerful and inspirational friend who never refused a request for help or advice. I had the privilege of working with and next to Janet at BP and witnessed the magic of her infectious personality on so many friends and colleagues over the years. Janet was the heart and soul of the team, unselfishly making everyone's work better, their day brighter, and team closer. My heart aches with sadness for the loss of such a special friend. God bless Samco and the family during this difficult time.

Janet was an inspiration to me. Her grace, warmth, sincerity, and kindness are just some of the words that depict who Janet was as a person. As a professional, she was brilliant, dedicated, and always calm under pressure. I am so glad to have known Janet. She was a special person, a good friend, and one that we should all strive to be like.

Janet was an awesome person and the very best there ever has been in Amoco and BP professional work. She and Samco hold a very special place in our hearts. I have had the privilege of knowing Janet since February 1989 and she was then and continued to be the warmest, kindest person to everyone she came in contact with through her life. God needed her in Heaven to spread some of his love on others for she was taken to young from this earth. God Bless and hold you in his arms forever Janet and strengthen Samco as he continues.
