Juanita was born in Oklahoma to parents Alcy Matthew Newby and Iva Hensley Newby. She was raised in Texas where she met the love of her life, Virgil Elisha Mears. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, son Raymond Mears and daughter Jackie McCoy.
