Not sure what to say?

I knew Jay from working at Wedgwood Garden Center. He was always a gentleman and respected all who got to know him.

To Jay's family, Mike and I are sorry to hear about his passing. He and Gail landscaped our yard in Chesapeake many years ago and it looked as beautiful 28 years later when we sold the house in 2016. He always made sure that Big T and Mom had a Christmas wreath although we never asked him to. He was always so kind to us.

Jay is one of many graduates of the 1964 NCHS class. But to me, he will always be remembered as a kind and thoughtful classmate that brought joy and laughter to all of us. As my father would often say "be a good example", he truly was.

Jay was a good friend. Jay landscaped every yard and garden that Misty and I ever had. Jay was one of the first members of Cypress Point Country Club and one of reasons the club was such a great place to have fun and play golf with your friends. Rest in Peace my friend.

Jay was such a tremendous friend to Algonquin House. He was very instrumental in beautifying our grounds over the years, never missing an opportunity to go above and beyond. Our landscaping will be an enduring testament to Jay's skill and generosity of spirit. He will be sorely missed!

Jay certainly left his footprint on this earth. Fair, honest and a good friend he will be missed. RIP Jay.

Thomas DiBuono Coach Jay Lane was a special person and great coach. He was direct and sincere and supported all student athletes His patience and knowledge was a great benefit to me at Norfolk Catholic high.

JAY HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD TO OUR FAMILY, FROM COACHING OUR SON MICHAEL TO EMPLOYING LINDA AND DALE. HE WAS A GREAT FRIEND AND FELLOW SPORTSMAN. GOD BLESS THE ENTIRE LANE FAMILY. HE HAS GONE HOME TO BE WITH HIS MOTHER AND FATHER, SO TAKE PEACE IN THAT. GOD BLESS YOU JAY AND MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.

My deepest sympathy to the entire lovely Lane family. This loss has made me very sad. Jay has been a favorite friend of mine since his coaching days at Norfolk Catholic High School. It was always a delight to cross paths with him and I shall truly miss him. Again, my sincere sympathy to Jay's entire family on his loss. Joyce Fraim
