I first met Joan when her family moved next door to me. I was 4 years old, and Joan was 7. We grew up together, attended the same elementary and high schools. We each got married and raised our families. About 15 years ago, we reunited and would meet every couple of months in Albany for lunch and lots of reminiscing. Joan was a good friend and I will miss our phone calls.
