Not sure what to say?

Many great memories were spent in the Shire Bookshop with my Dad. I miss him. dearly. The chiming bell, the long front desk, the kitchen nook, the tapestry rugs, the green barn lights suspended from the ceiling above, and the forgiveness we shared. Love John

I was so saddened to find out of Mr Boland's passing just recently. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Fitting I didn't know until after finding The Shire closed and my heart had sunk seeing the sign "Permanently closed", I feared the worst. I only knew John as the kind gentleman behind the counter surrounded by piles of books. The Shire was a place I could explore the world for hours all under one roof. Thank you Jack for sharing the world with us.

The Shire was truly a happy place, for me. I am so saddened to learn of Jack's passing. I am grateful for the time I spent around him and those books.

The world was a better place because of a man like you Jack. Thank you for all tbe help finding books and recommending them for my research. You will be sincerly missed for you kindness soft spoken well.

May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this time of deep sorrow. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences. (Psalms 116:15)

My condolence goes out to the family. May you draw comfort from knowing that God can heal the broken-hearted. He can will help you through this difficult time. (Psalm 147:3).

Heartfelt condolences to Jack's family and friends.

I have too many memories to mention here. What I would like to say publicly is, luckily for me, Jack is a forgiving man.

Jack is very proud of his Irish ancestry & I love to tease him about the Irish. We have had quite a few witty email skirmishes over the years, some of which I've saved.

Jack's life seems to be reading voraciously, his family, and the Shire Book Shop, 305 Union Street Franklin Massachusetts, one...

Jack, will always remember when you took Layne and LARRY to visit the Boston Tea Party when they were up there on school vacation.
Also remember your visits to Georgia and how delighted Byron and I celebrated your birthday by cooking crab legs! So many special memories!
