John Orfe III John Orfe III, 89, was born on April 10, 1922, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and departed this life on Sunday, April 10, 2011.
The son of the late John Orfe Jr. and Helen Weber Orfe, John was a scholarship recipient at the Philadelphia College of Art, an award winning graphic designer, illustrator and Automobile designer. He is a World War II United States Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Orfe; two sons, John Orfe IV and his wife, Elizabeth, of Schererville, Indiana, and Randall Orfe of Waynesboro, Virginia; two daughters, Janis Orfe of Port Royal, Virginia, and Lynn Orfe of New York, New York; two grandchildren, John Orfe V and Jessica Orfe; one sister, Ruth Steinmann of Pennsylvania; and one brother, Frederic Orfe of New Jersey. He was an Indy race car fan and during his retirement enjoyed pursuing historical race car painting.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Crozet, Virginia. The service will be officiated by the Reverend Charles F. Mullaly.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Daily Living Center, 990 East Hopeman Parkway, Waynesboro, VA 22980 or Western Albemarle Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 188, Crozet, VA 22932.
Arrangements are being handled by Anderson Funeral Services, 5888 Saint George Avenue.
