I'm grateful to have had the chance to be Jon's friend. Although so briefly. His letter in 1969 to prospective pledges captures what we all felt. Thanks Jon!

Nancy, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I will miss seeing Jon walking the neighborhood. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. Susan Gorman

Dear Nancy, I am so sorry for your loss. Jon was a great friend and fraternity brother at UNC. He was widely respected for his intellect, his academic success, and his leadership as President of the Phi Delt House. He was also a lot of fun to be with. He enjoyed a good party and had a dry sense of humor. Everyone in his pledge class, Class of 1970, feels lucky that Jon was our brother and friend. We miss him.

Nancy, Beautiful sentiment about your dearest Jon. Joe and I send love to you, and your precious girls. We know the Lord has you in the palm of his hand at this difficult time. Jon´s accomplishments were many and his love for all of you was his true gift. With love, Melinda and Joe
