Joe was a great friend and mentor. I met Joe when I was a student at Normandin Jr. High. He helped me land my first job at 15, provided guidance to get me into college and grad school and played a mean game of raquetball.

I apologize to the Oliver family for not responding sooner but I have been living in Glendale, Arizona for the past 4 years and recently in Tampa Bay. Truth is, I was recently researching Joe's current address to send him an invitation to my upcoming wedding...

To Mr. Oliver's Family and His New Bedford Public Schools Family- Mr. Oliver was an individual who impacted everyone he came in contact with - As the rest of us now go through life, we only hope that we can "live to be missed" as he did.

Deepest sympathies to the Oliver family as well as all of those who thought of Joe as family. You were a great mentor, but a better friend!
