New London, NH-Kathleen "Kay" G. Flanigin, 85, of Lyon Brook, passed away on Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 at the New London Hospital. She was born in Ardmore, PA on Jan. 21, 1923 the daughter of Robert and Evelyn (Evans) Gilmore. Raised in Belmont, MA, she graduated from Belmont, MA High School and Katherine Gibbs School. She had been a secretary at Harvard during the war, where she met her husband, W. (Walter) Ben Flanigin at the Hasty Pudding Club. In the 70's she was a medical secretary for the Chief of Staff at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA. Kay loved New England, where they raised their family, and was especially fond of summers they spent on Cape Cod. After spending over 20 years in Iowa and Texas, Kay was happy to return to New England shortly after her husband passed away, and settled in New London, NH in 1998. A very social person, Kay enjoyed volunteering and liked spending time with friends. In her spare time she loved reading and most especially found great joy in the companionship of her beloved pets. She was able to find the best in everyone and was so patient and kind. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, S. Nowland, and Evans Gilmore. Kay is survived by her three children, Stephen G. Flanigin of Bettendorf, IA, Douglas B. Flanigin of Wichita, KS and Joan F. Pankhurst of Georges Mills, NH; three granddaughters, nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 at Old Main Street Cemetery, New London, NH.
