Kay Butler

Chasing down some other information about neighbors on Fearing Street from the 1960s, Kay came to mind. I spoke with her on the phone perhaps 4 ago, but had not seen her in far longer. My brothers and I have warm memories of Kay and Jim as long-time next-door neighbors. I still have and use a very heavy enameled casserole that Jim gave my mother because he hated washing it. As a wedding gift, Kay gave me 2 silver serving spoons that she had buried to hide from the Nazis, and returned...

Although Kay reached a Methuselah age, she was astonishingly fresh and vital to the point of her true end, mentally and physically.
I have always admired her alert mind, extraordinary diligence, strict discipline, great efficiency and absolute correctness.
A really great woman has passed away. Kay was a great role model to me, I'll always keep her on my mind,
