It is with great sadness that the family of Kelly L. Shearin, age 72 Of Jackson, announces his passing on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Joyce (Ray) Shearin; his daughter, Leah Lundgren and her husband, David; his son, Rhett Shearin and his beloved granddaughter Kelly Jocelyn Shearin.
He was born on December 19, 1944 in El Paso, TX to the late James Mitchum and Myrtle (Marsh) Shearin. After high school he served with the Hardeman County Sheriffs Office as well as the Jackson Police Department before joining the Tennessee Highway Patrol. He retired as a Lieutenant in 1999 after 30 years of service. After retirement he became an auctioneer and realtor and at age 65 he took up horseback riding.
He and Joyce were longtime members of Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church and Northside United Methodist Church in later years. Kelly was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the St. Johns Masonic Lodge 332, the Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 45, Memphis Valley Scottish Rite Temple and the Al Chymia Shrine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Col. James Mitchum Shearin, Jr.
A Funeral Service in memory of Kelly will be held on Friday, June 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., at the George A Smith Funeral Home, with Rev. Gail Gaddie officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, two hours prior to the service.

Joyce, Although I haven't seen you or Kelly in a while, I remember him as a jolly and funny guy when we were in high school. So sorry for your loss. My prayer is for strength for you as you continue while 1/2 your heart is in heaven.
