KENNETH CLEMENS Long-time business owner Kenneth Eugene Clemens, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully May 12, 2014, surrounded by his family. Kenneth was born in Battle Creek, Neb., where he graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1953. During his high school years, he served as several class officers and lettered in music and football. Following high school, he interned in his parents machinery business. Janice and Ken met in high school and were married May 22, 1956. Together they owned and operated a successful dairy farm while raising their three children. In 1963, the Clemens family relocated to Las Vegas. Ken obtained his contractor's license in 1969. He owned and operated solely, and in partnership, several successful businesses namely Ken's Refrigeration, Aksarben Metals, Metal Kings, Clemens Enterprises, Sunbelt Electric and Air Tech Incorporated. Ken was known as a shrewd business man but contrary to the fact he never turned his back on friends, family or even strangers in need. His kindness was one of his many virtues. He loved helping friends and family with starting up and mentoring many business ventures. Ken was an accomplished musician playing the accordion, piano and horn instruments, Ken loved to have get-togethers playing music and cards. Ken and Janice loved to travel having visited more than 30 countries and three continents. Ken loved to fish and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, enjoying the catch! Ken was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He sponsored many little league baseball teams, trap shooting teams and supported his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their musical, sports and academic endeavors. Ken is survived by his devoted wife, Janice; son, Steven (Laurie) Clemens; daughters, Lori (Harold) Higdon and Monica (Gary) Carter; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Viewing will be 10-11 a.m. Friday, May 23, with funeral Mass following, both at Christ The King Catholic Community Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89118.
