Several years late--sorry, Kim! Kim was from Berkeley. Kim and I grew up in the Berkeley hills, and went to school together from elementary through senior high. In 2nd grade, he brought his drum set to class for show and tell, which got me excited, and soon I started drum lessons, too. Thank you, Kim! I think his parents had arranged lessons for him with Jerry Granelli. We played in the various school ensembles (though not marching band) along with other drummer friends. By high school...

Just learned of Kim's passing with great sadness. He was a major influence on me when I met him late in my drumming career at the Collective, and I'll never forget his humor and kindness. Deepest condolences.

Hello, I was a friend/associate of of Ruth Plainfield when she was the Chair of the Program Committee for the Berkeley Community YWCA, and I was the Program Director. Ruth was such a caring, smart woman who had a great influence on me as a young social worker and community activist. She adored her boys. I am very sad to hear of Kim's passing and send all love to his friends and family.

Wow... just heard about Kim's passing from a close drummer friend of mine, Channing. All of us grew up in Berkeley during the crazy times of Vietnam war, riots in the streets & all the hippy love you could handle. Kim and I were in at least one Berkeley High School band,(Tuaca). Peter Margen, Dave Margen & me, Victor Owens. He was also the main drummer in the BHS production of "West Side Story". It's things like this that make me want to make that bucket list of folks I need to contact...

I just now discover that Kim passed away last month. Very sad!
I once received a cassette tape of Kim playing with Bill Connors and I therefore visited several of his concerts with Tania Maria. I knew he had been working with Dutch flutist Chris Hinze and even lived here in The Netherlands. His playing appealed to me, due to his Bay Area background and playstyle, amongst others.
Kim became my teacher of choice as I received a scholarship from the Dutch Government to study at...
