Not sure what to say?

What a difficult weekend it was. The service at the church was beautiful and the turnout was a reflection of the many, many lives Laurie touched. I've had very few mentors in my life but I'd certainly count Laurie McDonald among the them. I taught at Ashburn and Lowes Island Elementary schools. She always put the children first and guided her staff with grace and love. I'm so sad to have not had a chance to say goodbye. Rest in peace, Laurie.

I did not have the opportunity to know Laurie for that long. Her nephew, Clayton Dietze is engaged to my daughter Jennifer. Every occasion we were together Laurie was so was very welcoming and made you feel part of the family. What a special lady. She will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this time of great sadness. There will always be so many HAPPY memories to share, forever!

Laura Rogers - Annandale, VA

Mrs. McDonald was my principle at Lowes Island Elementary from K-5, and I don't think I could of had a better one. She made the school what it is today, caring, enjoyable, and bright. She was an amazing person, cared deeply about the kids and teachers. I am proud to have known such a wonderful person and will deeply miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of sorrow.

I had the great pleasure of working with Laurie at Lowes Island. Laurie's passion for education was very obvious. She loved the kids and was most supportive of her staff.

Mrs. McDonald was an excellent principal. I attended Ashburb Elementary from 3rd-5th grade years ago and have fond memories of her. She has made great contributions to LCPS. Her family is in my prayers.

Laurie has been my boss for the last 6 years. She was a true inspiration and our school's guiding light. We will all miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with John, Jeff and Emily during this time of great sorrow for your family.
