Holladay, Utah—Laurie Lynn Gundersen Sutherland, of Holladay, Utah passed away on March 16, 2022, after an extended battle with multiple medical problems. Laurie, born on August 5, 1949 to two loving parents Arden Brinton and Valoise Gundersen in Missoula Montana, was a bundle of joy from the very beginning. As a teen and adult, Laurie's favorite pastime was traveling. After graduating from Olympus high school in 1967, Laurie went on to pursue a degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Children's Literature at the University of Utah, graduating in 1972. In the summer of 1972 she met Harold P. Sutherland Jr. in Paris, France. The two fell in love and were a match made in heaven, going on to have three children: Summer Anne, James, and Juliette. She was a good friend, who was supportive, kind, hilarious, and witty and we will miss her dearly. Laurie was active in the LDS faith, and in the Salt Lake Symphony Guild. She always loved the children she taught during her career as an Elementary School Teacher, First being her favorite grade.

Laurie was predeceased by her parents Arden Brinton and Valoise Gundersen. She is survived by her husband Harold P. Sutherland Jr., her children Summer Anne Lash (Jeremy Lash), James H. Sutherland (Joanna Sutherland), Juliette Johanna Palmer (Daniel Palmer); one granddaughter Vivienne Irene Lash; two sisters Sherron Robinson and Janet Parberry (Jon Parberry); and many nieces and nephews.

A Viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary on Friday March 25, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. A Viewing will also be held from 10-11 a.m. in the Big Cottonwood 14th Ward on Saturday March 26th preceding Funeral Services from 11-12 p.m. located at 2080 East 5165 South Salt Lake City, UT 84117. Internment will follow at Elysian Burial Gardens located at 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek, UT 84117.
