Dear Mrs. Graves, Elaine, and Ed,
I have many good memories of Mr. Graves, having been next door neighbors. He always seemed very slow to anger. Once, another little boy and I dug a fox hole in your field. Mr.Graves almost ran his tractor into it! You could tell he was frustrated; but he remained very calm. My parents were not all that calm, in this matter!
I will never forget when your horse, Susan, was ill and slipped into the pond. Ed swam out to her with a rope or chain and tied it around her. Mr. Graves then pulled her out with the tractor. I felt so sorry for Ed. He really loved that horse.
While growing up in South Knoxville you all were so very kind and helpful to my family.
Mr. Graves was also a very good roll model for a young kid.
I am very proud to have been acquainted with you folks and I also hold my chin up in pride for having known Mr.Graves!
May The Lord Bless You.
Sincerely , Gordon McSween

Mr. Graves was my neighbor for more than 30 years and I'm so very sorry to hear of this tragedy. He was always so kind to me and my young son, when it was just the two of us and he plowed the roads in the snow, so we could make it out to work and school. He always had a smile and a wave whenever we'd see him outside. He will be, and already is, missed so much. We are all, in our community, touched by this loss. Thinking of his family with so much sadness, but remembering him with love.

Mr.Graves is sadly missed already. My son Griffen loved to talk to Leroy and Eva. What a blessing to have neighbors like Mr.Graves. He always plowed the street on Smallwood for everyone anytime it snowed. I loved his Christmas tree lit in the front yard every year. He was always there to help or coach me if I needed a hand in the yard. Peace to Eva and your family! We love you both!! Your neighbors, Eddie & Tracey La Belle-Speeks, Ann Brown, and Griffen Puett

Leroy was an amazing man and a wonderful "guardian angel" for our community on Smallwood Drive. I have been here 15 years, and every year if the weather got bad, he was out there taking care of our road. I helped him one year get his tractor out of the ditch in front of my house. He took care of that road no matter how bad it was outside. The first threat of snow and ice we had this season, he came to my house and gave me a bag of salt and told me it was my turn. I was amazed he got that big bag of salt out of his car! Very tough man, very caring man, he will be greatly missed by our neighborhood. And as long as I am here, I will do my best to honor him by continuing his work on this road. He told me a few stories over the years and I always treasured every word of wisdom he would share. If there is anything the family needs, I am here. I know God is taking good care of Leroy, and he is definitely in my prayers.
