Linda Ott Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 9, 2013.
Linda "Granny" Ott, of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed away at home, Sunday January 6, 2013.

She was born July 2, 1943 in Dallas, Texas. Linda attended Carrollton High School. She married Larry Ott January 27, 1962.

Linda was survived by her children Lawrence Ott of Carrollton, Texas, Robert Ott of Addison, Texas and Pattie Burgess of Farmers Branch; her grandchildren Alan, Lauren and Ashley Ott, and Alie, Adam, Aubrie and Avery Burgess; one great-grandchild Jacob Wicker.

Linda is known and well respected in the Farmers Branch/Carrollton area for her presence in the community through various church, neighborhood, school and sporting events and activities. Linda handled everything from picking up children for church services to participating as room/team mom for her children and grandchildren, to heading the softball leagues.

Known as "Granny" to so many, her compassion and love could be felt not only by her children and grandchildren but also by the many friends that surrounded her. Her voice rang from the bleachers at countless football, baseball, basketball, softball fields and auditoriums for more than four decades. Whether it was encouraging a participant or correcting an official, you knew who she was rooting for. There weren't enough hours to listen to or words to express the pride and joy she had for her children and grandchildren.

Viewing will be held Thursday January 10, 2013 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Central Park Baptist Church, 1005 Jackson Road, Carrollton Texas 75007.

Funeral will be held Friday January 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Central Park Baptist Church, 1005 Jackson Road, Carrollton Texas 75007. Burial will follow at Hilltop Cemetery 1810 Perry Road Carrollton, Texas 75006.

Linda, and Larry never knew what a positive influence they were on my life. Although I haven't seen you in many years, I think of you both often, and remember your friendship, warmth, and friendly, selfless attitudes fondly. I can't believe how time has passed since those days in Farmers Branch Texas. Although I was just a kid who would stop by once in a while with my older brother Jim, You were both always kind to us. Larry never knew how much he, and Joe Snell influenced me to become an Auto Technician. I am now 60 years old, and retired. I believe Larry was either 24, or 26 then, and I was probably 13, or so. Wow .. You will always be in my memory, thoughts, and prayers. Love Always: Lee Sloan

Oran Good and the stands/fences at the slo-pitch games will never be the same without you, Linda. I will cherish our friendship forever and will always have a Snicker bar in the concessions refrigerator saved for you! :) You and your family are FB icons; thanks for the memories!

So, so SO many fun memories. The Ott's, The Currans, The Gaylords - our crazy little group. Thank you Linda for always keeping my baby Regan for me any time I asked you to. And thank you for making me laugh every time you did. Thank you Larry for coaching my boys in Bengal Football and teaching them well. The Ott's ARE Farmers Branch and the light will forever be just a bit dimmer at the lost of such a fabulous lady. I will forever hear your voice, Linda telling everyone we know just how the cow ate the cabbage until the day I will love hearing it again in person. Love and prayers to all of you, Terri (Gaylord) Walker

Larry, Pattie and Bo, I just wanted to say that my thoughts and prayers are with ya'll. I know how hard this is for ya'll and pray God will comfort you. I have peace in knowing that my Dad and Mom were waiting at the Pearly gates for their Bestest friend to come home. I know she will be greatly missed by all, but we will all be back together in Heaven someday :) I love ya'll and praying for you extra hard today.
