Louise (nee Salvatore) Quale, age 95, died peacefully of complications of congestive heart failure, at Gowanda Nursing Home on 09/14/2017.

Louise is survived by her children Michael, Judith Stewart Blum, and Kenneth; her grandchildren Lesa Quale Ferguson, Eric Stewart, Scott Quale, and Brette Quale; and her great grandchildren, Emma, Carson, Jackson and Carly Stewart, Sam and Caleb Ferguson, and Vincenzo Quale. She was predeceased by her husband Pat Quale, her sister Stella Supples, and her brother Michael Salvatore.

Born in Buffalo, NY to Italian immigrants Carmela (nee DeRosa) Salvatore and Anthony Salvatore, Louise was fond of recalling her childhood in the Swan Street District where at an early age she learned to sew and cook at her mothers side. Her family and friends enjoyed her culinary expertise with Italian entrees and desserts as her specialty. Her husband, Pat, rose to Detective Sergeant in the Buffalo Police Department. Later in life, she and her brother, Michael, owned Louises Cleaners on Abbott Road, where her skills as a seamstress and tailor were esteemed by neighborhood patrons.

She encouraged her friends and family to nurture their own talents: Nor is a lamp lighted to be put under a bushel, but on the lampstand; and then it gives light to all in the house.
