Loyd was a wise and wonderful friend.
I was proud to know an army officer who marched behind Patton as he swept across Europe in 1944. And I was honored, when visiting Midland, to be invited to share his energetic morning walks. Those sessions were the equivalent of a graduate school education and were most treasured. I will miss Loyd, his wisdom, his gentle sense of humor, and his devotion to family and church.

Dear Rufus and Loyd,
Uncle Loyd was a very sweet, generous and loving man. He will, no doubt, be rewarded in kind for all the wonderful things he did on this earth. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and with the entire Whitley Family. Love, Mary Lou and Frank Wilson
