Not sure what to say?

Mom loved pedicures. Photo taken Sept 2011

I had 2 teachers tell me in my years there that I was smart. (that wasn't followed by an expletive) Mrs. Faye Loftis was the first. I'm not so sure she was right about it, but she challenged me to do better, to do my best. It was a real turning point in my life because I took her challenge and did better. I love that lady so very much. She was an awesome influence in this life. Thank you so much for being there...and for caring. You'll not be forgotten!

What a honor it has been to be a part of this family! Faye, you fought such a brave fight! Darla, you never let her down! Faye, thank you for sharing your amazing daughter with me and I promise I will always be here for her! Go rest now beautiful lady. We will forever miss you and love you!

Darla,
I have many fond memories of growing up with your Mom in Mississippi. I think the right term for our relationship is fisrt cousins-once removed, but whatever, we were the same age and played together every time I visited my grandparents in Neshoba. Your Mom was brilliant.....a real math whiz....I was awed all those years ago by her brain! You are her pride and joy......and you are a kind and loving and gentle daughter and care-taker. She influenced many folks with her teaching...

Marilyn and I called each other roommates but we, actually, lived in apartments next door to each other. We met at church. We both sang in the choir for a while. One Wednesday night we cut church and choir and late in the evening went out for pie. There in the cafe were our pastor and choir director. The choir director came over to our table and wrote on a napkin " I will be at choir next week." He had us sign it. Marilyn put next to her name,"If the creeks don't rise." That Sunday...

I didn't have Mrs. Loftis as a teacher, however, Mrs. Loftis was the type of teacher that you did not have to sit in her classroom for her to "teach" you. I watched her help many that were and were not in her class but also that were in college to return for help in various classes. Not only intelligent, but her caring, loving, and generous spirit showed all students that she was indeed a "teacher" and friend. Her influence carries on through the life of her daughter, whom not only did...

My favorite photo of mom, taken 1985

I loved my "foundation" days at Union Schools! I'm thankful for people like Faye Loftis among many others who influenced my life to help make me who I am today. May her legacy live on in our hearts as we hold memories near.

I had Mrs. Loftis in the 9th and 10th grades and she was an absolutely awesome teacher and friend. In making a very long story short, she did not complain when I didn't do something right, she just expected me to do it correctly because she knew I could! She was a great inspiration to me and taught me to believe in myself. I am grateful that God allowed her to be a part of my life. I have proof that you can live a life with joy, minus the complaining and gripeing because things don't go...
