Martin Gearns Williamston Martin Gearns, age 85 of Williamston, passed away January 6, 2014 at his home. Born on October 5, 1928 in Omer, Michigan to Edward and Jesse (nee Stewart) Gearns. Beloved father of Sue (Jussi) Halme, Carl (Kimberly) Gearns, Diane Zaremba and John (Lynn) Gearns. Proud grandfather of Shawn, Katherine, Zachary, Zachariah and Luke. Survived by siblings John Gearns, Bernadine Raschke and Carol Raschke. Dear friend of Mary Branch. Martin attended Ecorse and Lincoln Park High Schools and was a member of the track team during high school with co-captain and life-long friend Dick James. After graduation, Martin served in the U.S. Army and attended Wayne University (now Wayne State University) on G.I. Bill, earning B.S. in Business Administration/Accounting. Employed at the Ford Motor Company for 39 years. After retiring, Martin was an avid golfer and tennis player, as well as being active in many clubs. Martin enjoyed traveling, having visited over 40 countries and 6 continents in last 14 years. Martin is proceeded in death by his parents and siblings Marguerite, Dorothy, Robert, Virginia, Barbara and Audrey. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home at 205 E. Middle Street in Williamston, MI. A brief celebration of Martin's life will be held at 3:00pm at the funeral home. Open House following the celebration (from 4:00pm) at 640 Pine Meadow Lane in Williamston.
