Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Griffard, Mary Alice "Sis" (nee Meyer), baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Friday, October 8, 2021. She was born in St. Louis, a daughter of Herbert and Mary Agnes (nee McDermott) Meyer. Sis was a homemaker and a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church

She is the beloved wife of Pat Griffard; dear mother of Joe (Julie) Griffard, Mary Patricia (deceased), Christine (Paul) Licata, Kevin Griffard; loving grandmother of Rachel Griffard, Patrick Griffard, Mars Licata and Al Licata; dear sister of the late Herbert "Son" Meyer, John "Jack" Meyer, and Harold "Bub" Meyer; sister-in-law (Jack’s wife) Ann.

Mary began her education at St. Edwards Parish School and transferred to Visitation Academy in third grade where she completed high school. She attended Fontbonne College for one year before entering the business world.

Mary worked at Union Electric as a secretary for seven years before retiring to raise her family. Later she continued her work career as office manager at the Progressive Youth Center.

Mary was an active member of St. Joseph’s for almost 40 years. She was one of the first “red coat” ushers and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Her various activities included reading tutor, spelling bee coaching, fish fry, sausage supper, and others. She enjoyed the Quilting group very much.

An excellent seamstress, she made the children’s clothes and many dance costumes for Christine & the troupe. She also enjoyed gardening, quilling, and puzzles.
