Mary was my college roommate at Randolph-Macon College and a treasured friend for more than 70 years. During college we enjoyed many fun times together, including lots of double dates with our future husbands and cooking dinners in the sorority kitchen. After college we moved to different areas of the country but maintained our close friendship through phone calls, visits and even adventures to such places as Alaska, when Mary taught me to line dance on a rocking boat! When my Mom first moved to Trinity Oaks two years ago, Mary was the first to befriend her. My Mom had taught piano for 50+ years and the transition to not teaching was very difficult. Mary asked my Mom if she would be willing to accompany the sing-along and that was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Mary always had an infectious smile and a special sparkle in her eyes. I have no doubt that she will be greatly missed.
