Just learned of the passing of Mrs. Medlock from a fellow educator. At A. Philip Randolph Academies of Technology she was always referred to as Mrs. Medlock by all students and younger staff members...she taught all of us to demonstrate respect for each other. When I arrived at what was known then as Northside Skills Center, she provided guidance to a young librarian new to the high school experience. Mattie MEDLOCK was truly a gem for black students at Wolfson High. Because of her encouraging words, I studied in Boston, Massachusetts of all places! I forever owe her spirit "Thanks" for inspiring me to become the fine, intellectual I am today.
