Mauro Calzada-Garnica

Mauro Calzada-Garnica, 55 of Newman passed away Wednesday, February 15th at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Mr. Calzada-Garnica was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and was a resident of Newman for 32 years. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman. He was an agriculture laborer for 25 years and enjoyed gardening and fixing things.

Mr. Calzada-Garnica is survived by his wife, Maria Pereira of Newman; daughters, Mayra (Pedro) Moreno of Newman, Araceli (Eric) Jimenez of Delhi and Julia (Efraim) Calzada of Newman; father, Jesus Calzada of Mexico; brothers, Saturino Calzada, Felix (Lidia) Calzada both of Gustine and Eusevio Calzada of Mexico; sisters, Gabriela (Ismael) Calzada, Licha (Maria) Calzada both of Newman and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Adrian Moreno; mother, Julia Garnica and niece, Doris Castro-Calzada.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 22nd at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 23rd at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.
