Andrews Funeral Home - Gloucester Obituary

July 1, 2023, Michael (Mike) Carmine, 62, from Gloucester VA, passed away peacefully at home with his Wife Sandra Carmine at his side. He had been fighting a long battle with cancer, and never gave up. His fight is over, and he is not suffering anymore.
Mike was born on February 23, 1961, to Bernice Carmine and Betty Roane in Newport News VA. He was the oldest of three children. He was in the Marine Corp Reserves and did his training at Camp Lejeune. After being honorably discharged he became a police officer and worked 30 years for the Newport News Police department. He loved being a police officer and was always working so hard to make sure everyone in his family was taken care of. He loved being a Grandaddy and always made sure his grandchildren had what they wanted. He worked his whole life for everyone else because that was the kind of person he was. His time off was spent taking the grandkids to do fun things and playing golf. He also loved to take family trips every year and was all about tradition. He was the glue that held the family together and he will be missed very much.
Mike was predeceased by his father Bernice Carmine, and brother Tommy Joe Carmine. He is survived by his wife Sandra Carmine, his mother Betty Roane, his brother Bobby Carmine, his children Amanda Carmine, Robert Carmine, and Cassandra Carmine, and his grandchildren Emma Carmine, Matthew Myers, Jackson Ferguson, Aiden New, Kylie Jurgensen, and Caleb Jurgensen.
Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester is in charge of arrangements.

Not sure what to say?

Sorry for the late response, but I now live far away from Newport News. God bless you and your family. I posted this on my FB page, but hope my memories of Michael give you comfort and peace. I know, he is with the Lord. My brother, Christopher, who also worked with Michael wished to express his sadness on hearing the news. He was such a good man.

Retired Officer Lisa Uzzle just told me the sad news about former NNPD Officer Michael Carmine. Michael was a former Marine and...

Thank you for always treating me as one of your own for the last 25 years! I appreciated you more than I ever let you know. I know you’re up there hitting golf balls and riding motorcycles just like you always did.

You will truly be missed. We had some good times and great inside jokes! You always knew how to make me laugh!

Going to miss seeing you around HQ and the jokes from cmu. You were such a ray of sunshine.

My thoughts are with your family during this time of reflection.

So many memories and laughs over the years - I'll always remember you trying to take me to Ape Hangers and your too funny explanation! Rest in Peace

Michael and I had conversations every day for about three months. We had a time of prayer and hope. I will miss my nephew, Michael.

My deepest sympathy for the loss of Mike. He was a great man. I've known Mike and wife Sandra many years and Mike always, always put the care of his family first. He would work multiple jobs to provide and care for his family. This is a great loss and he will be missed.

Man we had some good times. Some of the jokes you played in North Precinct kept me laughing for weeks and I still talk about them today. Until we meet again brother, rest well.
