I met Michael J. McGreavy when he was an apprentice to the late Mr. Frank Marnette on Folsom Blvd in 1992. Mr. Marnette always referred to him as "Mikey" and though it may be in poor taste, that's how I'll always think of him. Mr. McGreavy was cutting edge back then, doing my store's books on a computer, (Mr. Marnette only worked in actual ledger books, leaving the computer work to Mikey). When I'd visit the office, Mr. Marnette, Mr. McGreavy and myself had many discussions about topics ranging from the duck artwork and other pictures on Mr. Marnette's walls, to the crazy door-to-door salesmen who often stopped in his office.
After Mr. Marnette passed, Mr. McGreavy and I continued to have many conversations about politics, computers and life.
The two of us were quite different in many respects, yet somehow we always found common topics to discuss without ever getting into heated discussion. It's always reminded me of how things used to be in politics where both sides of the aisle could disagree vehemently on a subject, yet a level of respect was ever present.
Mr. McGreavy was as honest and trustworthy as the day is long. He carried forth many of the honorable qualities I found in Mr. Marnette. Like, Mr. Marnette, he was a man of his word and a fine gentlemen who never lost his curiosity for learning about the world. He was more than just my tax guy, he was a true friend and I shall miss him greatly.

Mike was a God-sent to me when I needed help with my taxes. He was so helpful and a sincere gentle man. I enjoyed knowing him and when I called for my first appointment for my 2016 taxes, was shocked to hear of his passing. He worked so hard and really made things easy for one who doesn't understand tax code at all. I'll miss him and the lovely conversations we had when we would meet.

Michael you are now in heaven. There is no more sickness or sorrow, just the light of heaven and the peace we all seek. I love you, and wish I would have told you more in your short time here on this earth. I will miss you my brother.

I had just met Mike on 2/12/17 and was looking forward to doing some business with him. He had an extensive knowledge of some very fascinating aspects of Sacramento history. He took time to speak with me, a stranger, for over an hour outside his house about everything from real estate to business to history. I wish the best to his family and loved ones.
