Mildred V. Kennedy of Batesville, VA, passed away
peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016. She was born in Batesville, VA, on January 16, 1925. She worked as the head of the OR at the University of Virginia Medical Center for 37 years, upon her retirement on December 31, 1983, to be with her husband, Harry D. Kennedy also of Batesville, VA, and he passed away in 1969.
Before working at UVA and during the World War II she worked in a Parachuet plant in Charlottesville, VA, and helped with the Red Cross and at the Veterans Hospital in Fishersville, VA. She and her husband were avid Bird Watchers and loved nature.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Kennedy; her mother, Hattie C. Goolsby; father, John D. Goolsby; and brother-in-law Phillip Lee Pugh all of Batesville,
She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline G. Pugh, her nephews, Phillip R. Pugh of Batesville, his son, Dillon Mulshine of New York, and Wife, Susie Mulshine of South Caroline, John R. Pugh and wife, Denise Pugh, and their children, Alison Pugh and Megan Pugh of Bozeman, Montana, Michael L. Pugh and wife, Ethel Luke Pugh, of Batesville, Va, and a son, John E. Luke of Cherry Point, NC; along with her husband's niece, Judy Davis of Florida.
She has requested all donations to be given in her name to the Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro, VA
There will be a family night, on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at 7333 Dick Woods Road, Afton, VA from 2 to 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 2 pm at Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville VA.
