Mildred Paul Levine, 96, of Oneonta, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Focus Rehabilitation Center in Cooperstown, New York.

Mil was born in Rochester New York on September 17, 1918 the daughter of Morris and Celia (Snyder) Paul. She married Gerald Levine on October 29, 1948 and he pre-deceased her on April 25, 1987.

Mil was an important part of our community and maintained a residence on Union Street for nearly 50 years. She retired in 1987 from SUNY Oneonta where she was the administrative assistant to the Director of Equal Opportunities. Prior to this position Mil worked for the Schools' Psychologist and Elementary Education Department. Additionally, before her marriage she was a civilian employee with the United States Navy in Atlantic City.

Mil was a member of Temple Beth El and its Sisterhood where she had also served as treasurer. She was a volunteer at AO Fox Hospital, as well being formerly active with the YMCA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Easter Seals Agency.

At home Mil was talented with her sewing machine as she crafted signature sachet bags and pillows. Away from home Mil had an active social life although she rarely would have a drink. She enjoyed meaningful relationships with dear friends. Mil and Ed enjoyed the special relationship they shared with their neighbor and caregiver Dinah Rivera.

One of her favorite day trips was to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, where they maintain and extensive collection of articles related to her deceased brother Gabe Paul.

She is survived by two children, Carolyn Paul of Boulder, CO., David J. Levine of Dallas, TX, Grandson, Gabriel L. Deall of Durango, CO, and Dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the United States.

She was the last survivor of 11 children. Mil was predeceased by her long-time companion, Edward Puritz. Additionally she became very close to Ed's son Andy, his wife Joan as well as their children.

Carolyn and David, I was saddened to read of your Mothers passing. A friend from Sidney NY sent me Mildred's obituary from the Oneonta Daily Star. Mil and I became friend back in the 70s seeing each other at Bresees Heath Bar. This led to many visits even when Bill and I moved from Sidney to Jacksonville FL in 1984. She was such a joy to be with. Your Mother never lost her memory of sense of humor. I will miss her contacts by letter or phone. Love Naomi Morton, Jacksonville FL

David and Carolyn:
I was sad to hear the news about your wonderful Mom. She was such a beautiful and sweet person, best reflected in her long, fruitful life and in the legacy she left through her children. I still have the adorable tool smock she made for Josh when he was little.
With Sympathy and Love,

Millie was a sweet and kind woman. I got to know her when we both worked in the same building at SUNY Oneonta. Whenever I would see her after she retired, she always had a smile. She lived a long and wonderful life, she will be missed by many.

David and Carolyn,

I offer my greatest condolences. Your mother was a very kind, special, and sweet soul and I will miss the conversations that I had with her. Even though she is no longer here with us physically, the biggest comfort is knowing the she lived a very long and fruitful life (96 years) and that she is now at peace. Be strong and much love to you guys.
