"WWII Veteran"

Canton, NC - Monroe Franklin, 93 died on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at the Charles George VA Medical Center Hospice Unit. He was born on March 15, 1925 to the late James Thomas and Frankie Lee Sutton Franklin.

Monroe loved fishing and spending time outdoors. The family expressed that he was a great father who loved his family with all his heart.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by first wife, Margaret Mae Franklin and second wife, Stella Franklin; son, Johnny Franklin; and ten brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish his memory is a daughter, Maggie Hartline; sons, J. L. Franklin and R.L. Franklin; two sisters, Jimmie Parton and Mattie Cook; twenty four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and special friend, Wilma Phillips and her three children.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend's Dennis Queen and Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
