Not sure what to say?

Neil Mckay was my close friend and buddy in the District Attorney's Office and on the Bench. He was truly an outstanding Prosecutor, Judge and human being. My prayers are with his family-we have lost a great man.

Judge McKay was a tremendous human being. He served his country with distinction on the battle fields of Europe as a young man. He was a great prosecutor and a wise, fair and respected trial judge. He was a lifelong friend of my Dad, Judge Joe Guarino, and of our entire family. We will never forget him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful family.

I need to do an addendum to my previous entry. In my sadness and haste to post a message I forgot to mention my mother's name. I believe there may be some people who are reading these entries from Van and Mt Pleasant Texas who knew Judge McKay from his teaching years who will remember my mother. Her name then was Dorothy Bess Wilson, she went on to marry my father George Schieve during the war and after his death she moved to East Lansing Michigan.
Thank you for allowing me to make the...

Neil was a friend of my mother's from way back in high school in Mt Pleasant Texas. She always called him a perfect Texas gentleman. They both served their country, along with my father in WW2 had kept in touch over the years. Neil and Anne visited with my mother and father in North Carolina shortly before my father's death.
Neil's passing has touched and saddened my family immensely. We would like his family to know my mother held him and Anne in the greatest regard throughout the years...

I am saddened to learn of the passing of a good man. I best remember Neil McKay as a mentor to me and other young prosecutors in the Harris County District Attorney's office of the mid-1960s. He was steady, candid without abrasiveness and unperturbed in a line of work that is often demanding, chaotic, hostile and serious. And he was tough. He set a good example for me and I am certain for others as he touched our lives. I will miss him .

Neil was a hoot, my family and his were quite close for years. My Dad, Bill Morris died 10 yrs ago. We were involved with Kenneth's family more since we lived in S.S. but when we moved to Houston, we made friends with Neil's family. They were special, fun-loving people that I remember and when I was older, I remember visiting Neil at the Courts in Houston. I now live in London, married an Englishman. I shall have comfort with the great memories of the family. And to the family that is...

He had the aura of dignity, fairness and judicial temperament.

My Mother, Mary S Black Phillips and Neil were 1st cousins. They grew up together in Sulphur Springs, Tx. I have heard so many stories about Neil and his brother Kenneth and Mother and her 5 brothers. They all grew up in a time when kids knew how to play and have fun and laugh. They are all gone now, except my Mother but I do remember Neil and Mother laughing about different things they did when they were children.

I am sorry I didn't get to know Neil better.

I wish to express my condolences to the family of Judge McKay. I spent a lot of time around him at the Houston Scottish Rite and always enjoyed talking with him.

Being of Scottish ancestry myself, I always appreciated his talks about his experiences in Scotland. He will be missed by all Texas Masons and those in the fraternity at large. I regret that time and distance prevent my paying my respects in person.
