Not sure what to say?

I just loved Mrs. Pettyjohn and her wonderful stories. Her ability to narrate a book was magical. I will never forget her reading "The White Mountains" by John Christopher. I always couldn't wait to go listen to her read another chapter. She had a way that made all of us feel so special. She remember every child by name, which as an adult now I find amazing. I am so thankful to have had her as a part of my childhood that I will never forget. Annie

Grateful for her service to all of us as we grew up in Washougal. Memories of her kindness and good humor. May her family be comforted by the love of friends and family and the memories of her contributions.

I am so sad to hear of her passing. When she was the librarian at Hathaway, she would read to our class twice a week. I would fight my way to the front of the class and sit at her knee. She was my favorite! I loved listening as she read about the adventures of Runaway Ralph and Willy Wonka. I got so giddy when it was library day. I remembered her so fondly, but it wasn't until I ran into her at the post office, as an adult, that I realized just how special she was. I heard her say "is that...

I remember, as kids, Ann would invite me to spend the night and Mrs. Pettyjohn always made me feel welcome in her home. Memories of her in high school are also special. My heart goes out to the Ann and the family. I am glad she was in my life and for those memories. She will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one. Holding on tight to our heavenly Father of tender mercies helps us cope with the time of sorrow. May the words of Psalm 9:10 bring you comfort.

Mrs. Pettyjohn was such a caring and loving lady. She was a teacher that expected great things from her students, and was willing to go the length for those having struggles. She was so poised and tender hearted. She truly was a gem. I told her that pictures of her in her younger years reminded me of Jackie Kennedy Onassis. So.... I would call her Jackie O! She got such a kick out of that. What a great legacy she has left. She is greatly missed.

Mrs. Pettyjohn was a Class Act. Years after her husband passed I would see her at the Holland from time to time. Always dressed to kill, every hair in place and her soft voice a joy to listen to. I went to school with the boys all upstanding young men. I memory that I hold dear.

Sympathy for the loss of your mother. For years I have regretted failing to tell
Wilkes how much I admired his fondness for his folks when his father died years ago
while we were members of Messiah Church.
Tales of his fathers coaching and Wilkes
gratitude for the parents who loved him
left me with great respect for Wilkes. It is a pleasure to read here what a wonderful woman his mother was.

Nina was a wonderful teacher, and an excellent role model. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to know her during my high school years.
