Nora Pilkington Walker

Mrs. Nora Elizabeth Pilkington Walker, age 91, of Maplewood Lane, Moravian Falls died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday 2:00 PM, April 24, 2010 at Moravian Falls Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Goforth officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial will be in the Moravian Falls Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Mrs. Walker was born October 27, 1918 in Wilkes County to Granville and Mamie Miller Pilkington. Before retiring, she was the owner of Nora's Beauty Shop. Mrs. Walker was an active member of Moravian Falls Baptist Church, where she was a nursery worker and a Junior Training Union teacher. She and her husband were active members of the Good Neighbors. She and her husband were founding members and she was treasurer of Moravian Falls Baptist Mission (now Poplar Grove Baptist Church). She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Bernard Walker; six sisters; Viola "Polly" Minton, Vetra Roope, Lillian "Ruby" Neilson, Anne Moore, Dorothy Hunsucker, Hessie Pilkington; three brothers, Guy Pilkington, Blaine Pilkington, and Everette Pilkington. She is survived by: three daughters, Gladys W. Walker and husband, Ted of Moravian Falls, Kay W. Steele and husband, Steve of Wilkesboro, Barbara W. Carlton and husband, Bob of Moravian Falls; two sisters, Ella Batten and husband, Dolan of Thomasville, Pearl Smith of Lexington; six grandchildren, Curtis Walker and wife Karen, Craig Walker and wife, Leia, Robert Carlton and wife, Lisa, Becky C. Greer and husband, Eric, Christopher Steele and friend Elaine Shew, Todd Steele and wife, Sarah; eight great-grandchildren, Clay Walker and wife, Jacquelyn, Kelley Walker, Callie Walker, Caroline Walker, Andrew Carlton, Matthew Greer, Allyson Greer and Sydney Greer.
