Patricia M. Thomas, 87, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Heather’s House hospice, Fargo, ND.
Patricia Marie Hafner was born on April 11, 1938, to Frank and Esther (Sondag) Hafner in Carrington, ND. Patricia was raised in Valley City, ND. She graduated from St. Catherine’s Catholic High School, in 1957 After high school, Patricia went to Valley City State University and received her teaching certificate.
On June 27, 1959, Patricia was united in marriage to Bill Thomas, in St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Valley City. The two lived in Valley City for four years before living in Greeley, CO, and Fargo for a brief time. They finally settled in Moorhead, where they made their home and raised their four children. After raising her kids, Patricia went back to school to become an LPN. She worked as an LPN and in other capacities for Dakota Hospital for many years as well as several nursing homes, including, Bethany, Elim and Eventide. She also worked in home health care, including as a nanny.
Patricia loved spending time outdoors. She loved spending time at Lake Sallie, bike riding, and gardening. She enjoyed baking, especially chocolate chip cookies, or anything chocolate. Faith was an important part in her life; she was a member of both Catholic Daughters and Christian Mother’s at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for over 30 years. Patricia was especially witty, which became more apparent as she got older. Most of all she enjoyed her time with friends and family, whether hosting events or sitting down for a game of bridge.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Pat (Willi), Melanie (Ron) Bauer, Mike (Nancy), and Peggy (Mike) Taylor; grandchildren, Connor, Logan, Paige, Leigh, Zach, Derrick, Jake, and Natalie; sisters, Madonna Hildebrant and Rita Hafner as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Esther; brothers, Jerome Hafner and Francis (Joyce) Hafner; and brother-in-law, Lynn Hildebrant.
Patricia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10:30, with a visitation one hour prior in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by going to Patricia’s obituary page at www.korsmofuneralservice.com
