In Loving Memory of Patrick John Hoffman

October 18th, 1952- October 28, 2025

Patrick John Hoffman—known to many simply as “Slick”—passed away peacefully at his home in Lakewood on October 28, 2025, at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Delphine, and leaves behind his longtime companion Michiko, along with his siblings Beverly, Kenneth, Chuck, Brian, Mary, Ronald, and Barry.

From the start, Pat was his own person. Growing up on the family farm with five brothers and two sisters, he earned the nickname “Slick” for his smooth charm and quick wit. Life on the farm was full of hard work, laughter, and a little mischief—and Pat fit right in. He was stubborn, sure, but in the best way. That stubborn streak meant he was determined, independent, and proud of the life he built.

Pat worked as a welder, which made perfect sense. He liked working with his hands, shaping metal into something strong and lasting. That’s how he lived, too—solid, steady, and true to himself. Whether he was fixing up his ’56 Chevy or relaxing at his place by the ocean, Pat knew how to enjoy the simple things.

He had a dry sense of humor and could drop a one-liner that had everyone laughing. He made people feel comfortable, and he never tried to be anything other than himself. Pat loved the outdoors and was happiest on hunting trips with his brothers and nephews, soaking in the quiet and the camaraderie.

More than anything, Pat just did Pat. He didn’t follow trends or try to impress—he was the real deal. That’s what we’ll miss most: his laugh, his stories, and the steady way he showed up for the people he cared about.

As we remember him, we’ll hold onto the good stuff—the sound of his voice, the twinkle in his eye when he cracked a joke, and the quiet strength he carried. And we’ll smile when we think of him, because that’s exactly what he’d want.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma, WA. Following the service, Pat will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.

Rest easy, Slick. You were deeply loved, and you’ll never be forgotten.
