Paul Allen Goodlett, 73, husband of Janet Phillips Goodlett, passed away peacefully September 3, 2021 at his home. Born March 24, 1948 in Lawrenceburg, KY, Paul was the son of the late James Goodlett and Pauline Perry Sims.
A retired employee of Kentucky Utilities, Paul also worked as a Barber at Plaza Barber Shop in Frankfort and served in the Kentucky National Guard. He was a member of the Sand Spring Baptist Church and the National Hot Rod Association. Paul was an avid golfer, playing for over 50 years, many of which he played daily. Yet his greatest loves were his wife, daughters, dogs, and most recently being a Papaw to his grandchildren.
Including Janet, his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his daughters, Laurie (Jamie) Goodlett and Shannon (Willy) Martens, both of Lawrenceburg, and Paige (Scott) Brown of Lexington; three grandchildren, Charles (Cassidy), Elizabeth, and Joe; a sister Barbara (Rick) Pacey of Burgin; and a brother, Ronnie (Teresa) Goodlett of Versailles.
Paul chose cremation. No public services will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.

I went in for a haircut today and as always, I asked about Paul since he was my favorite barber since 2006. I was truly saddened to hear of Paul’s passing on September 3rd. I always looked forward to getting a hair cut and chatting about life, family (especially each other’s three daughters and grand kids), most recently heart surgeries. I considered him a good Christian man and a friend. I’m so sorry for your tremendous loss.

I will miss him terribly. One of the best people I ever had the privilege of knowing. No words can express the sadness I feel. The memories I will cherish forever.

I was one of Paul's first customers when he started cutting hair at the Plaza barber shop. We would joke about how everyone was hesitant to let the "new guy" cut their hair and I told him "I'll take a chance". We became friends from that day forward. We'd talk about cars, and summer time garden fresh tomatoes which he loved. I say this with all sincerity. The world has lost one of the finest gentlemen I have ever met. He will truly be missed by all. So sorry for your loss.

Janet, Laurie, Shannon, and Paige I am so sorry for your loss. I hadn’t seen Paul for years but I still thought the would of him. I think I spent almost as much time at your house as I did mine. You’re my family and my heart is breaking for you. I love you all. Praying for you through this difficult time.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Paul was a good friend to my mom and dad and my family over the years. When we lived across the road after returning to Kentucky, my little kids got the biggest kick out of him mowing the yard with no shirt on. They would run into the room saying, “Mr. Paul is mowing nakey!” I know he will be missed. Prayers for all of you at this time.
