CLEAR LAKE - Paul Heinz, 83, 1000 North Eisenhower Ave., Mason City, died Thursday (June 4, 2009) at the IOOF Home in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. 
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice, 18 E. Main St., Suite 2, New Hampton, IA, 50659, Lime Creek Nature Center or Mercy Heart Center.
Paul was born March 4, 1926, to Rev. F. Albin & Adeline (Matthias) Heinz in Columbus, Neb.
Paul graduated from Wellsburg in 1943 and attended Mason City Junior College. He served in the Army from 1944-1946 and the Army Reserves office until 1952.
Paul was united in marriage, to Jean Wood on Dec. 21, 1947, at the United Central Lutheran Church in Mason City. They were married for 61 years. He worked for Interstate Power for 35 years and worked in Clear Lake for 17 years as area manager. Paul retired in 1987.
Paul was a member of Clear Lake Economic Development, past president of Clear Lake Rotary, past president of Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, served on the board of the former First Federal Bank and member of Clear Lake Zion Lutheran Church.
Paul enjoyed bird watching and reading. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Heinz, Mason City; three sons, Jeff (Brenda) Heinz, Mason City; Brian Heinz, Mason City; Howard (Janel) Heinz, Clear Lake; six grandchildren, Joel (Mindy) Heinz, Ames; Jon (Ashley) Heinz, Mason City; Robb Heinz, Mason City; Brandon (Kasey) Heinz, Clear Lake; Amanda Heinz, Ankeny; Hillary Heinz, Mason City; and one great-granddaughter, Sydney Heinz, Mason City; brother, Al Heinz, Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. F. Albin and Adeline Heinz; an infant son, Stephen Heinz; brother, Sig Heinz; sister, Norma Kliven; sisters-in-law, Maxine Heinz and Janet Heinz; niece, Janelle Peterson; and a brother-in-law, Lyle Kliven.
