I cannot believe this! I was friends with Paula during our time in Champaign-Urbana and lost touch with her shortly before her marriage to Don Murphy. Just this morning I was talking with my husband (who was a 1976 graduate of Pekin Community High School but did not know Paula) about trying to contact her again after all these years as I have missed our friendship. I just discovered this obituary while Googling her name. I am so very sorry for this loss. My heart goes out to her family and all who knew Paula and loved her.

Paula will always hold a special place in my heart and memories. Her smile, laughter, acceptance and friendship was given so freely to me when I moved to Pekin during my High School years to Sierra Drive. Her love of life and music was contagious. There are no words to express my deepest heartfelt sympathy and prayers to her family and all that knew her. I am sure her light will continue to shine through all she has touched in life.

My Dear Paul, Jill and family,
How sad we are at your loss...a loss for all of us. Paula left a seed of joy with each and every person who heard her laugh, each and every person who heard her sing, learned of music in her class, met her. We are grateful to have known her. We were fortunate to enjoy her support of the Elgin Children's Chorus, and especially thankful for sharing her Jill with us. Blessings to you all...

A couple years ago I started attending Communty Presbyterian and knew God was calling me to get connected so I joined the choir. After not singing for 15 years it was scary to try again. Paula made it easier for me with her beauty spiritually and physically, along with her strong vocal leadership. I always knew all I had to do was follow her lead. I will miss her vibrancy and look forward to the time when we sing in heaven together. My prayers for peace and blessing go out to Paul and all her family.

I enjoyed and will miss your vibrant Spirit. I know this will live on through your family and friends in their wonderful memories and stories of you.

No farewells, but until next time.

I, for one, will miss looking across the room at Celebration Community Chorus practice and seeing Paula's face in the alto section as she smiles and cracks jokes. Although I did not know her well, I remember how she lead us through Celebration Hospital at Christmas time in 2011 and directed us in cheering the hospital patients with Christmas Carols. Ever the consummate music lover, she did her job well and helped all of us feel we were able to offer comfort to those who were hospitalized at an emotional time of year. God speed, Paula. My sympathies to Paul and to their beautiful daughter, Jill, whose voice will continue to echo the sounds of her beautiful mother.

There are really no words to express my sorrow. Paula was always a bright spot wherever I saw her. We so miss seeing her and Paul and Jill as part of our church family in Schaumburg. You all are always in our hearts and prayers.

At those performances, she stood on the risers just in front of me. I shall remember Paula as a friendly outgoing, and happy person who energized us all.
