Phyllis, N. McCarty, 84, of Rhinelander, passed away on Thursday evening, April 1, 2021 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital.

Phyllis was born in Gillespie, Illinois on July 19, 1936 to Ibel O. and Eunice (Winstead) Hooper. She was raised in Gillespie, Illinois and was united in marriage to Charles Fanning. She later was united in marriage to Richard McCarty in Rhinelander.

In her younger years, Phyllis, enjoyed playing bingo and trips to the casino boat. She also loved her pet chorkie dog; Lucky.

Surviving are her three children; Brenda (Dan) Abert of Edwardsville, Illinois, Wayne (Lisa) Fanning of Monico, Wisconsin and Kenny (Rita) Fanning of Rhinelander, step-children; David, Dawn, Debbie and Sherry and several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and three sisters; Pat, Peg and Linda. Also surviving is her four-legged companion; Lucky and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, first husband; Charles Fanning, second husband; Richard McCarty, five step-children; Wayne, Bruce, Allen, John and Diane and by two brothers; Owassa and Buster and by three sisters; Wanda, Rea and Joanne.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
